Porta Potty Rental FAQ: Palo Alto
Answers to common questions about renting portable toilets in Palo Alto. Not covered here? Call ☎ us.
Can the porta potty go on the street in front of my Palo Alto house?
Possibly, but a unit in the street or on the sidewalk counts as an item in the public right-of-way, and Palo Alto Public Works Engineering may require an encroachment permit. Most homeowners put the unit on the driveway or in a side yard instead, which avoids the permit.
Do you deliver to Stanford and East Palo Alto too?
Yes, we serve nearby communities, including Stanford, East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and Los Altos Hills. Stanford campus locations may have their own facilities rules, so check with the department hosting your event.
I'm remodeling an Eichler. Where does the unit usually go?
Most Eichler lots have a flat driveway, which is ideal. We place the unit at the front of the driveway so the service truck can reach it without crossing the lawn or the atrium.
Can I put units in Mitchell Park or Rinconada Park for a party?
Only with the city's approval. Talk to the City of Palo Alto's park and facility reservation staff before you book, then tell us the approved placement area.
How many units do I need for a graduation party for 80 guests?
A common rule of thumb is about one unit per 50 guests for a four-hour event, more if alcohol is served. For 80 guests, that usually means two standard units, and a handwashing station if food is served. Call and we'll help you size it.
Will the truck fit down my street?
Most Palo Alto streets are fine. If you have a narrow lane, a steep driveway, low branches, or a gate, mention it when you call so we can plan delivery.
How much does a porta potty rental cost?
It depends on the unit type, how many you need, how long you need them, and how often they're serviced. Call or send the quote form and we'll give you a price for your situation.
How far ahead should I book?
As early as you can, especially for weekend events in spring and summer. For job sites, a few days' notice is usually enough. Call to check your dates.
What does the placement spot need?
Flat, firm ground that the service truck can reach, ideally within a short walk of where people will be. Tell us about gates, slopes, and overhead branches.
Do you service units during the rental?
Yes. Longer rentals get scheduled service visits, and we'll set the frequency based on how many people use the units.
